The Nextbase Click & Go range of portable DVD player for car includes the Click 7 and its more illustrious, top of the range, cousin, the Click 10. As the names suggest, the Click 7 features a 7″ TFT 480 x 234 pixel, screen which contributes to its overall dimensions of 7.1″ x 5.1″ x 1.2″ and its weight of 1.6lbs, while the Click 10 features a larger 10.1″ 800 x 480 version and so measures 9.7″ x 6.7″ x 1.2″ and weighs in at 2.4lbs. Both portable DVD players are available in a number of different configurations, including the Duo which includes twin screens so that two people can view the same DVD content at the same time and the Duo Deluxe, which includes twin screens and twin players so that two people can view the same, or different, DVD content at the same time. The presence of LED back lighting is a welcome addition to both players: this allows clear, crisp pictures with rich, deep colours and impressive black levels.
Two years’ research and development went into the Click & Go range and both players are designed specifically for safety and ease of use in the car, in the home and elsewhere. Click & Go, for example, refers to a simple yet innovative Velcro headset mount which also includes a 12-volt in-car power adaptor into which either of the portable DVD players can be “clicked”. Removing the player from a car, for security purposes, is equally straightforward; it simply “clicks” out again, leaving the headrest mount and power adaptor in situ for next time.
You may think that Velcro is not the most secure method of fastening a portable DVD player in a moving vehicle, in which case you might like to consider a Nextbase headrest mount or Nextbase stanchion mount kit which is available as an optional extra. Fitting a Nextbase stanchion mount involves removing the headrest(s), threading the stanchions through the mounting assembly and replacing the headrests. This can provide a safer, more permanent alternative to Velcro and also prevents your portable DVD players from tilting upwards with the movement of the headrest. For further peace of mind, the construction of the Click & Go range of portable DVD players has been tested to European crash test standards, so you can be sure that, even in the event of a collision, they will not produce sharp edges or flying debris in the passenger cabin of your car. The range is one of the few to have undergone such rigorous testing.
Click & Go portable DVD players also include infrared or “IR” transmitters as standard. This means that they can be used with one, two or more pairs of wireless headphones (available as optional extras) and so afford anyone not watching a DVD – the driver and front-seat passenger for example – some peace and quiet, or the option of listening to the car’s audio system. Wireless headphones can, likewise, help to eliminate background noise for anyone who is watching a DVD.
